We need more barricades for election security – IGP appeals
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has appealed to the government to equip the Ghana Police Service with additional barricades to enhance election security across the country.
He made the appeal in an interview with Citi News at the YMCA polling centre in the Korle Klottey Constituency, where he was assessing security arrangements during the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primary.
The IGP emphasised that adequate barricading is essential for maintaining order and ensuring effective crowd control at polling centres.
“When you have barricades, it makes the provision of security much easier. It is one of the key measures we need to ensure that government continues to provide more barricades to protect people and manage crowds effectively,” he said.
