Ghana Halts Citizenship Applications for Historical Diasporas
The Ministry of the Interior, in partnership with the Diaspora Affairs Office of the President, has temporarily suspended the processing of Ghanaian citizenship applications for historical diasporas.
In a statement issued on Sunday, February 1, the institutions said the suspension is part of a joint initiative to review and improve the application process, with the aim of making it more efficient, accessible, and user-friendly.
They explained that the pause will allow for necessary adjustments to ensure a smoother and more streamlined experience when the application process resumes.
The Ministry of the Interior and the Diaspora Affairs Office reaffirmed their commitment to welcoming members of the global African family to Ghana.
The statement added that revised timelines and updated application guidelines will be communicated through official channels in due course.
