NPP presidential primaries: Kwabena Agyapong accepts defeat, congratulates Bawumia ahead of official results
Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, a presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has conceded defeat in the party’s ongoing primaries, following early indications that former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is leading the race.

Preliminary results from several constituencies show Dr. Bawumia ahead of his rivals as ballot counting continues across polling centres nationwide.
In a video, Mr. Agyapong was seen making a congratulatory phone call to Dr. Bawumia, acknowledging his apparent victory.
“Mahamudu, congratulations. I have seen that you have done it,” he said.
Describing the contest as a challenging one, Mr. Agyapong emphasized the need for unity and acceptance following the primaries, stressing that the party’s collective strength should take precedence.
“It’s a tough battle, but it’s very important to hold the party together and make sure everything is fine,” he added.
He also pledged his continued support for Dr. Bawumia, assuring him of his readiness to assist whenever needed.
“As usual, you know I’m always available. We will meet at the party’s headquarters,” he said.
The NPP primaries are expected to officially conclude once results from all constituencies have been fully collated and announced.
