Amenfi Central to benefit from 130 mechanised boreholes for portable water
The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has reiterated her commitment to improving access to potable drinking water in the constituency through the construction of 130 mechanised boreholes.
According to the Amenfi Central legislator, the initiative forms part of her broader water intervention projects aimed at addressing the challenge of polluted water sources caused largely by illegal mining activities, popularly known as galamsey.
Speaking in an interview with General Obey, host of the “Ghana Mpunto” morning show programme on Sekunde 107.5 FM in Sekondi, the MP disclosed that 60 mechanised boreholes have already been completed under the first phase of the project.
She explained that an additional 70 mechanised boreholes will be constructed to ensure that more communities in the constituency gain access to safe and clean drinking water in the second and third phases respectively.

Hon. Gyan Cudjoe also expressed concern about the lack of maintenance culture among some Ghanaians and urged community members to take responsibility for maintaining the boreholes to keep them operational.
She advised residents to ensure that faulty boreholes are repaired promptly to prevent people from resorting to streams and rivers that may be contaminated by illegal mining activities.
The MP further called on residents to have confidence in the administration of John Dramani Mahama, noting that his government’s Reset Agenda is aimed at delivering the necessary infrastructure development across the country.
Hon. Gyan Cudjoe assured her constituents that she remains committed to transforming Amenfi Central before the end of her first term in office.
