No power deficit or load shedding in Ghana – John Jinapor assures
Energy Minister John Jinapor has emphasized that Ghana is not experiencing load shedding and that the country has adequate power generation capacity to meet demand.
In a Facebook post on Friday, January 30, the Minister shared that he had met with the leadership of key power sector agencies to assess the current state of electricity supply across the country. He pointed out that there has been no load shedding for over 10 months and that there is no deficit in power generation.
While acknowledging reports of frequent power outages in parts of Accra and Kumasi, Mr. Jinapor clarified that these disruptions are not due to a lack of generation but are instead the result of operational issues within the system.
The Minister confirmed that he has directed the relevant agencies to urgently develop and submit a clear, time-bound plan to address the outages and restore a stable power supply in the affected areas. He reiterated the government’s commitment to providing reliable and uninterrupted electricity for all Ghanaians, assuring the public that efforts are underway to resolve the issues as swiftly as possible.
