Two injured in clash between rival chiefs’ supporters over gravel pit in Kpandai
Two people sustained cutlass injuries following a violent clash between supporters of rival chiefs in Kpandai, Northern Region, over a gravel pit intended for the rehabilitation of the Dobong community road.
According to the branch chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who witnessed the incident, the land was granted by the Nkanchina chief for gravel extraction for the road project.
However, another local chief, Nana Ntosah, allegedly ordered the work to stop. He reportedly sent pay loaders to the site, but supporters of the Nkanchina chief resisted, preventing the equipment from operating.
The disagreement escalated into a violent confrontation, leaving two people injured and resulting in the burning of six motorbikes.
The NDC chairman condemned the incident and called for calm, urging all parties to resolve disputes through dialogue rather than violence.
