Gov’t pays GH¢10bn in DDEP interest obligations, boost investor confidence
The Government of Ghana has announced the payment of GH¢10 billion in interest obligations under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP).
In a statement issued on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, the Ministry of Finance said the disbursement represents the sixth coupon payment under the programme and the second to be made fully in cash without any Payment-In-Kind component.
According to the Ministry, the payment covers cedi-denominated DDEP coupon obligations in line with the debt restructuring memorandum and the government’s broader fiscal consolidation and debt management strategy.
It explained that meeting the obligation on schedule is a clear indication of improving fiscal strength and solvency.
The Ministry further noted that the development sends a strong positive signal to both domestic and international investors, boosts market confidence, and is expected to support Ghana’s credit outlook while enhancing stability within the financial sector, particularly among banks and pension funds.
