‘I’m the Happiest Man on Earth’, Says Agradaa’s Husband After Sentence Reduction
The husband of the former fetish priestess-turned-evangelist, Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, Angel Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has expressed relief and excitement following a decision by the Amasaman High Court to reduce his wife’s prison sentence.
Speaking to journalists at the court premises after the ruling, Mr. Asiamah described the decision as a huge relief, saying in Twi, “I am the happiest man on earth.”
The Amasaman High Court on Tuesday reduced Nana Agradaa’s custodial sentence to 12 calendar months, ruling that the original 15-year sentence with hard labour was harsh and excessive.
In its decision, the court upheld her conviction but exercised its discretion to vary the punishment imposed by the trial court. The revised sentence takes effect from July 3, 2025, the date of her conviction, meaning she will serve a total of 12 months in prison.
The court held that while the offence warranted punishment, the severity of the original sentence was disproportionate under the circumstances, justifying a downward adjustment.
Nana Agradaa, a controversial public figure since her transition from traditional priesthood to evangelism, was convicted earlier this year in a case that attracted widespread public debate and legal scrutiny.
With the High Court’s ruling, her conviction remains intact, although the custodial term has been significantly reduced.
