Rental Assistance Scheme supports over 2,000 beneficiaries – Gilbert Adjei
The Minister for Works and Housing, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, has revealed that more than 2,000 people benefited from the National Rental Assistance Scheme in 2025, with the programme recording an impressive 99 per cent repayment rate.
He explained that the government is taking steps to recapitalise the scheme after its seed fund increased significantly from GH₵27 million to GH₵71.7 million.
Speaking during a visit by the Vice President, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, to the ministry, Mr Adjei said the scheme was introduced to help address the high cost of rental accommodation across the country.
“In 2025 alone, we supported 2,031 new beneficiaries, bringing the cumulative total since the scheme’s inception to 4,732. We have also achieved a 99 per cent repayment rate, which demonstrates the sustainability of the programme,” he stated.
The Minister added that the government is exploring partnerships with financial institutions to expand the scheme to regions that are yet to benefit from it.
“Going forward, we intend to recapitalise the scheme and collaborate with partners to broaden its reach and extend support to other regions,” he noted.
