NPP Schedules National Executive Elections for September 18–20
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that its national executive elections will be held from September 18 to 20, 2026, in line with a comprehensive timetable for the party’s internal electoral activities.
The schedule was unveiled at a press conference on Wednesday, February 18, by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, who outlined the various stages leading to the polls.
He said nominations for the national executive positions will open and close between August 10 and August 14, 2026. Filing of nominations is expected to take place from August 15 to August 17, while vetting of aspirants has been slated for August 20 to August 23. The vetting report will be presented on August 25, with appeals scheduled for August 28 and August 29.
Mr. Kodua Frimpong further disclosed that the tenure of some party officials will expire during the period of the internal electoral process. He noted that their mandates have been extended to cover polling station, branch, constituency and regional executives, as well as electoral area coordinators, to prevent any disruption.
According to him, the extension of their tenure is aimed at ensuring a smooth, orderly and undistorted conduct of the party’s internal elections.
The party expressed confidence that the outlined processes will guarantee a transparent and well-organised election of its national executives.
