Prez. Mahama visits Burkina Faso terror attack survivors at 37 Military Hospital
President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, visited survivors of the recent terrorist attack in Burkina Faso who are receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital.
The victims were part of a group of Ghanaian tomato traders travelling in a truck when armed assailants ambushed them. The attackers reportedly separated the men, killed several of them and set the vehicle on fire.
Accompanied by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, President Mahama commiserated with the injured and assured them that the government would bear the full cost of their medical care.
The President, who had earlier undertaken an official assignment in Takoradi, proceeded straight to the hospital upon arriving in Accra to receive first-hand briefing on the incident.
Seven Ghanaians who lost their lives in the attack have since been buried. The survivors were airlifted back to the country by the Ghana Armed Forces and are currently undergoing counselling and receiving medical treatment.
